Vision of the Founder

Prana Veda Sanctuary is the realization of my lifelong dream. “Live your dream” has always been a guiding principle for me – and my vision was to create a place of healing, encounter and community. A place where my love for people and my passion for connection come to life.

Life took me to Bali – to this special place full of tropical beauty on the Indian Ocean. The idea for Prana Veda was born out of meditation, dreams and inspiration. Together with the creative hands and hearts of the Balinese, this place was built: as a sanctuary, guest house, retreat and community space.

In 2010, Prana Veda Sanctuary opened its doors as a space for people from East and West to come together to learn, grow, heal and simply be at peace.

"A place where time stands still
Heaven and earth meet
and you feel a little closer to heaven."

Renate – the heart of Prana Veda

About the Founder

Renate, the founder of the Prana Veda Sanctuary, is a German, English and French-speaking host and therapist who first came to Bali over 45 years ago – and immediately fell in love with the magic of this island.

She began her professional journey as a physiotherapist in Switzerland and later volunteered for the Red Cross in Singapore, working in a home for children with disabilities. Back in Germany, she ran her own practice for over 20 years while her son Marc grew up and enriched her life.

Over time, Renate deepened her path to holistic healing: further psychotherapeutic training, nine years of six-month study visits to India, where she learned Ayurveda, yoga and meditation, as well as workshops and seminars in many countries around the world.

Her intention is still the same today: To create a special place that inspires and empowers people and gives them the tools to activate their own self-healing powers – to find their wholeness and inner balance again.

Tamina –

Our Retreat Leader Tamina

Since leaving Germany in 2017, Tamina has been living in Bali and has been our retreat leader at Prana Veda since 2018.

In her work she combines yoga, meditation, aquatic bodywork and sound healing – methods that are a deep source of presence, healing and connection.

Another focus of her work is the coordination in the background. Tamina takes care of the organizational processes and helps to ensure that retreats at Prana Veda take place in a harmonious and well-structured setting.

With an open heart and a keen sense for the needs of the participants, she accompanies people on their journey to greater inner clarity and vitality. For Tamina, Prana Veda is a special place that has become her new home, where transformation can happen – supported by the power of nature and a loving community.

Nateea –

Our Retreat Leader Nateea

She is delighted to support the Prana Veda Sanctuary as a yoga teacher and brings her international experience to this special place.

Born in the USA, raised in Germany with Caribbean roots, her path has taken her around the world for many years, a journey that has shaped her love for nature, people and the spiritual depth of life.
She found yoga in 2016 through meditation and since then it has been an integral part of her life.

With over 500 hours of training in various yoga styles such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Yin Yoga and the guidance of wonderful teachers from all over the world, she now teaches with a lot of heart, clarity and mindfulness. In her classes, she combines strength and gentleness and holds a loving space in which you can simply be yourself.

Her intention is to help you reconnect with yourself, with your body, your breath and your inner radiance.

Our Balinese Team

Our Balinese team consists of eleven wonderful people who look after our guests with dedication, warmth and an open smile. Most of them are from our village and many have been with Prana Veda since the very beginning – they are the heart of our hotel.

The family atmosphere that this creates is particularly appreciated by all guests. The staff know the guests by name and it is noticeable how much the people from so many different countries grow on them. Their wonderful, open smiles while they work are always touching. We are very grateful for each and every one of our employees who help shape the image of Prana Veda with their Balinese kindness. This often results in encounters that are remembered far beyond the stay.

We are sincerely grateful for each and every member of our team. With their Balinese warmth and kindness, they contribute significantly to making Prana Veda not just a place of rest – but a home by the ocean.

Your place of power in Bali

Meaning of Prana Veda

Prana Veda means “the science and wisdom of life energies” in Sanskrit; a place of power that invites anyone who is an explorer and a stalker to study life energies with us. Prana Veda is a dream of paradise with a shared spirit to create a safe haven to birth a “New World” and sow seeds to awaken from our conditioning – simply live love.
